Executive Producer – Efecto Naím
We are looking for an ambitious, creative, and highly organized journalist with a global vision to serve as Executive Producer for Efecto Naím.
Efecto Naím is a Spanish-language TV show hosted and directed by Moisés Naím, one of Latin America’s most renowned thinkers.
The show features documentary-style reports and exclusive interviews with decision-makers and trend-setters, from Christine Lagarde to Martha Stewart, from Tom Friedman to Larry Summers. It airs on Sundays at 9pm on NTN24 in the U.S. and all of Latin America. It is also distributed by a variety of channels including Telemundo Internacional, RCN Colombia and RPP Perú. Our videos (in English and Spanish) are featured online in major media outlets around the world including The Atlantic, Spain’s El País, Chile’s La Tercera, and Venezuela’s El Nacional.
The perfect candidate for this job will have a combination of editorial, production and management skills. This position is based in Washington D.C.
Set the editorial direction of the show, creating new content, expanding our digital presence, and continuing to make Efecto Naím a leader in Latin American television.
Pitch, write, commission and edit stories, focusing on creating unique, deeply analytical content that goes beyond the superficial, scandal-driven coverage of other news media.
Guide a small full-time team of video editors and producers, and manage a network of international freelancers that do everything from reporting, motion graphics design, voiceover recordings, and social media management. Recruit and train freelance talent to expand our network of contributors.
Write and edit scripts to be read on camera by the show host, and supervise both in-studio and on location productions, including multi-day events in international locations.
Find, book, research and produce interviews with high-level guests, from heads of state to top thinkers in many fields.
Manage the relationship of the show with its parent company and distributors, and supervise administrative tasks including budgeting.
The ideal candidate
Has full professional fluency in both Spanish and English, with excellent writing and editing skills in both languages.
Deeply understands the Efecto Naím brand and style of storytelling.
Has a track record of academic and professional excellence, a deep understanding of global affairs, and a demonstrated ability to tackle a wide variety of topics ranging from economics to technology, from foreign policy to cultural trends in a concise, engaging and entertaining way.
Has at least five years of experience in video production and in managing a small team, setting deadlines, and editing other people’s writing.
Is creative and entrepreneurial, and in addition to the weekly tasks of producing the TV show, is excited about experimenting with digital storytelling and expanding Efecto Naím’s audience.
